The accessible beach mat in Glenelg is designed to give people with disabilities and others with mobility difficulties the opportunity to access the beach and go into the ocean in a safe manner.
The accessible beach mat is back on Glenelg Beach and will remain in place all summer. You can spot the blue accessible beach mat next to the Moseley Beach Club and the Mix 102.3 Giant Wheel.
The mat connects to the accessible beach ramp from the Glenelg Foreshore and can be used by anyone, at any time of day – including people with prams, people using walking aids or by people who just want an easier path to the water over the soft sand.
Free Henley Beach Wheelchair Hire | October to April
From mid October until April each year, bookable beach wheelchairs are also available for free half-day hire down at Henley Beach.
Seacliff Beach Accessible Beach Mat and Water Wheelchair Hire
Seacliff Beach is home to another accessible beach mat every weekend in summer, thanks to the volunteers at the Seacliff Surf Life Saving Club. Three water wheechairs are also available to hire free of charge.
