The Accessible Beach Day events in Glenelg are designed to give people with disabilities and others with mobility difficulties the opportunity to access the beach and go into the ocean in a safe manner.
Glenelg Beach will host six accessible beach days this summer, starting this December and running into March next year. The City of Holdfast Bay Council is working with ParaQuad SA (PQSA) to host the beach days and will provide 50-metres of beach matting from the foreshore to the water, to provide access for wheelchair users and people with mobility difficulties.
There will also be beach wheelchairs available to use on the days and the Mobi-chair floating wheelchair. PQSA volunteers will be on hand throughout the days to provide support.
The beach access point can be found directly north of the Glenelg Jetty, providing entry to Glenelg Beach, which will be made fully wheelchair accessible.
