The annual Glenelg Greek Festival with the Blessing of the Waters is back in 2023.
The general public is invited to join the Greek community and the Christian Orthodox celebration of the Blessing of the Waters on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 January 2023.
The Glenelg Greek Festival is an annual event held on the first weekend after the 6th of January β the Orthodox feast of Theophany (Epiphany). Go along to sample Greek food, sweets, and to see the traditional song and dance performances by people of Orthodox countries.
A big highlight is the Blessing of the Waters ceremony on Sunday at 12:30pm, which includes the throwing of the Cross and the race to retrieve it.
The Glenelg Greek Festival is proudly hosted by the Inter-Communities Council of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, with support from the City of Holdfast Bay and the Government of South Australia.
