Goolwa Skate Park New Pump Track
The seaside town of Goolwa in South Australia now has a brand new asphalt pump track, designed and constructed by TrailScapes (in front of the skate park).
The new pump track will be a great new attraction for the area. Being asphalt means it’s a nice smooth surface and suitable for bikes, skateboards, in-line skates and scooters as well, plus won’t get muddy the way a dirt track does. As with all pump tracks be sure to wear safety gear like the guy pictured below. It will save a lot of skin if there’s a fall, and of course helmets are mandatory to prevent head injuries.
For those not familiar with what a pump track is, it’s a circuit of rollers and banked turns designed to be ridden completely by riders “pumping” – generating momentum by up and down body movements to keep up speed instead of pedalling or pushing. The name “pump track” comes from the pumping motion used by the rider’s upper and lower body as they ride around the track.
The jump line at the back has also received a revamp in this latest project at Goolwa.

The Goolwa Skate Park received a facelift in 2018 with an innovative project to prevent graffiti through street art.
Three local street artists were commissioned to beautify the park using creative and relevant street art, with the aim of preventing crime by deterring unwanted graffiti.

The consultation process has also prompted improved maintenance of the landscaping and grassed area around the skate park and the formation of a ‘Friends of the Goolwa Skate Park’ volunteer group to create ownership and assist in caring for the park.
