The Most Gorgeous Hot Chocolate Ball in Adelaide

When we shared our guide for The Best Hot Chocolates in Adelaide on our Facebook page recently, our Facebook friend Leah Truslove kindly gave us the hot tip about another hot chocolate ball we hadn’t yet listed. As soon as we heard about this treat, we made sure to put it on the To-Do list for our next trip to the Adelaide Central Market, which we happen to visit almost weekly.

Thanks to Leah, we discovered this hot chocolate is created by French patisserie cafe, Maison Clement which is located in the Central Market Arcade (right next door to Haigh’s Chocolates, around the corner from Coles).

The owner, French patissier Clement Labaere (previously Cliché in North Adelaide) opened the cafe in September 2018. You’ll find beautiful French pastries, tarts, gateaux and croissants alongside baguettes, breakfast favourites and some traditional French dishes.

Back to the hot chocolate ball. With its golden perfect sphere of delicate chocolate, it looked (almost) too good to drink. Just pour the hot milk over the gorgeous gold ball, wait for the surprise, and then stir. You’ll be rewarded with a velvety smooth hot chocolate which is sweet enough, but not too sickly sweet. Deliciousness in a cup.

Croissants are beautifully glazed, light and flaky, and how good do the baguettes look?

The tarts are as good as they look and our piece of chocolate raspberry mousse cake below was so light and delicious.

Before or after shopping at the Adelaide Central Markets, this is a great stop for breakfast, lunch, or a coffee and cake (or dinner Friday night). Be sure to try the hot chocolate ball – you won’t be disappointed.
