Hudsons Circus

Hudsons Circus | Review

I still have vivid memories of attending the cirucs as a child, so I had hoped my return to the circus would be as memorable this time around and it was! Hudsons Circus has all the elements of a traditional circus with a twist including some new, dangerous and exciting acts.

It was fantastic to see that the acts were well-polished; the whole circus flowed along easily and there was plenty of action and entertainment to keep the audience mesmerised for the whole evening. The quality of the performers was evident and even the resident clown was a master at entertaining and engaging the audience in a delightfully funny way!

The circus had traditional elements including some impressive juggling, hoola hooping and balancing acrobatic acts. However, the most memorable and breathtaking act was that of the ever-smiling pirate Jack Sparrow who walked the tightrope as easily as though he were taking groceries through the checkout. He even successfully managed to skip rope on the tightwalk. There was also a flawless aerial act which showed strength and precision.

I confess to being rather excited when a blue spherical metal cage appeared along with one motorcyclist. However, I was totally impressed when three motorbikes were zooming around inside the cage, upside down, sideways all without crashing!

There were several animal acts involving bison, camels, a macaw and some ponies who were well rewarded with food several times in the 3 minutes they each appeared in the ring, doing simple acts such as running around the ring.

The show ended with a thrilling trapeze act involving four performers who were obviously enjoying the ride as much as the audience did! A great night of family entertainment.
