Grug & the Rainbow by Windmill Theatre | Play & Go Review

Grug & The Rainbow by Windmill Theatre Co | Review

By Em Casey, Scarlett, Lolita & Elliot

Grug & the Rainbow by Windmill Theatre is very well produced and a lovely theatre experience for families. There is plenty of age appropriate humour – I laughed a lot when Grug skied off the mountain and paper snow pouffed up into the air, and the children laughed through the whole show.

Clara dancing was a hit and the two girls especially loved the chance to get up themselves and dance mid-way through the performance (apparently Elliot is too cool to dance)!

One of the great features of the show is that it teaches children about perspective, with the performers using a small Grug puppet for far away scenes, then a large Grug puppet for the closer scenes.

The show incorporates a number of Grug stories that the children are familiar with, so it was a pleasure to see their eyes light up each time they made the connection between the performance on stage and a story they had read before.

It was fantastic to be able to meet the performers after the show, and we were thrilled to have Grug autograph a book each. These will be treasured in their memory boxes.
