Victor Harbor Skate Park

Victor Harbor Skate Park is in a great location just next to the foreshore. This popular skate park has a quality surface and ramps; and enough to keep skaters, scooters and riders of all ages busy and challenged.

For kids (or parents!) who are into into skateboarding, scootering, rollerblading or BMX riding, Victor Harbor Skate Park is a fabulous place to have fun on wheels.

If you’re on holiday in the Fleurieu, or visiting Victor Harbor on a day trip, then you might want to put Victor Harbor Skate Park on your itinerary.  There’s so much to do to keep kids entertained and if you’ve brought bikes, skateboards or scooters then they can burn off some steam.

On the day we went there were several family groups enjoying the facilities and before long our kids joined in too, keen to learn some tricks from the other kids there. Those that didn’t have scooters or bikes were having fun trying to scale the edge of the bowl, and then slide back down.

Hard work pulling yourself up to the top!

It’s probably not the easiest skate park for beginners, but even so, it’s a fun spot to hang out with mates and have a go.

Skateboarding is also a great spectator sport. An older, more competent skater turned up and before long had quite an audience as he showed off some of his tricks.

A great spot to watch the more hardcore skateboarders.

The Victor Harbor Skate Park is part of the Victor Harbor Youth Park which includes a beach volleyball court, basketball and half tennis court and well-equipped playground. Its iconic beachfront location creates a stunning backdrop for all the action.

Skateboarding may not be a mainstream sport but it’s gaining popularity (it will be represented at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games) and it’s a great way for kids to gain confidence in mastering a skill, and to learn about calculated risk.

What we like about the Victor Harbor Skate Park

It’s just next to the beach.

There are plenty of great vantage points where you can sit and watch the action, or just take in the views of Encounter Bay and towards Granite Island.

Public toilets are available during daylight hours.

There’s a big playground nearby.

Coffee options nearby

The Victor Harbor Skate Park is right next to Qahwa coffee shop. We didn’t get coffee there but we hear it’s pretty good.

Things to consider

❤️ If you’re worried about kids falling and hurting themselves (concrete is hard after all) then bring appropriate safety gear.

❤️ Wear sunblock – the concrete surface may reflect the sun’s rays.

❤️ If you’re looking for the best time of day to visit with smaller children then perhaps consider the mornings, or weekdays when older more confident kids/teens may be at school.

Things to see and do in Victor Harbor

We love Victor Harbor as there’s so much to see and do for families – whether you’re wanting a day trip out of Adelaide, or a longer holiday.

The Causeway Plaza area is the main hub for Victor Harbor’s tourist facilities such as the entrance to the causeway to Granite Island. There’s a kiosk for refreshments, mini-golf, camel and the historic horse-drawn tram.
