Karate Kid & Karate Kid II – Cult at the Capri
The Karate Kid was released 35 years ago and was an instant commercial success and pop culture phenomenon. It delivered everything from quotable phrases to iconic imagery and inspirational life lessons. Definitely a double to share with the next generation on the big screen, where it belongs…as well as on VHS obviously.
In the first instalment, newly arrived in California from New Jersey, teenager Daniel almost immediately runs afoul of karate-trained high school bullies. He is rescued by Japanese janitor Miyagi, who agrees to teach Daniel how to harness karate for good instead of brutality.
The sequel picks up where the first film left off and finds Danny and Miyagi making an emergency trip to Okinawa, where Miyagi’s father is dying. The two become embroiled with an old nemesis and his nephew.
