Review of Katherine Street Reserve Playground, Fullarton
Katherine Street Reserve in Fullarton opened last year – to the delight of the local community.

A newly constructed playground, Katherine Street Reserve has been designed to combine nature play elements with the more ‘expected’ playground structures, and to create a space for the whole community. There is a sandpit with logs to step on, or to burrow underneath, a hill to climb, a slide, in-ground trampolines, and swings. It’s all set in a nicely grassed area with easy parking.
Unfortunately it is not fully fenced and it doesn’t have amenities such as toilets/BBQs, which is why it doesn’t quite get a spot on our list of The Best Playgrounds for Toddlers in Adelaide.
Having said that our little Play & Go testers thought it was a fun space to play in; with plenty to do for all ages.
There are lots of opportunities for social interaction and motor skill development, and once the trees grow up there will also be plenty of shade and lovely spots to sit or to play.
What we love about Katherine Street Reserve
❤️ If you’ve got kids who like being on their bikes or scooters, then there is a concrete path that goes around the play area which is fun to zoom along, plus you can park your bikes at the entrance to the park.
❤️ 3 swing options including a baby swing
❤️ 3 little in-ground trampolines
❤️ the sandpit area – it’s large and undercover
❤️ drinking fountain
❤️ plenty of seating, including a sheltered picnic table
❤️ dotted throughout the reserve are little pieces of signage designed for children encouraging them to reflect on and interact with their environment
❤️ There is a ‘hill’ that is fun for climbing up, and leads to a slide
Things to consider:
❤️ The park is almost fully fenced … but there are a couple of gaps, so if you’ve got little ones who run off then you’ll want to keep a close eye on them.
❤️ There are no toilets or BBQs.
❤️ Little climbers may be able to climb up the green ‘hill’ and go down the slide but we found the slide a bit fast for toddlers.
❤️ There are a lot of bark chips which some little ones like to put in their mouths.
