La Ronde: Adelaide Fringe 2025 Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️  5 stars for a glitzy feast for the senses

Review by Sharon Harrington

Brought to you by Strut & Fret, the creators of Limbo, Blanc de Blanc and Cantina, La Ronde is an extravagant, cheeky acrobatic cabaret aimed at fringe-goers aged 15+ years. It can be saucy at times, so book the baby sitter and leave the kids at home for this one!

Set in the atmospheric Spiegeltent in The Garden of Unearthly Delights, La Ronde features soulful singing, sexy dance routines and mesmerising aerial and acrobatic feats along with a funny man to lighten the mood.

Gigi McFarlane has a number of vocal sets and captivates with her expressive songs and glorious 70’s vibes. In one stunning scene, she serenades the audience while sitting atop a gigantic, sparkling disco ball as it spins.

Polina Karvovskaya’s and Felipe Reyes’ aerial feats are mind blowing to watch! Polina affixes an aerial rope to the top of her hair bun, and erotically twirls in her nude coloured, shimmering costume as she lifts up into the air. Felipe Reyes, dressed as a yellow and red-feathered Icarus, ascends to the ceiling, hanging at the end of the aerial rope by only his mouth!

Sergiy Mishchurenko is a magnificent vision of strength and flexibility, as he holds himself aloft from an aerial pole with one arm, while spinning and twirling.

A Where’s Wally inspired Sam Goodburn provides comic relief with his crazy half naked unicycle skills and ability to flick a jatz biscuit from his foot into his mouth. A couple of brave audience members also joined Sam on stage for some laughs, with an ill-advised recreation of Dirty Dancing’s iconic lift scene and more unicycle exploits.

La Ronde is a fun, sultry night out with a cast of incredible performers. Check it out at The Garden of Unearthly Delights, Adelaide Fringe until 23 March 2025.
