Leicester Street Playground Review | A Top Pick for Best Toddler Playground in Adelaide

Leicester Street Playground

Review by Susannah Marks

If you’re looking for a fenced playground that’s perfect for toddlers or smaller kids, then check out Leicester Street Playground in Parkside. It’s one of our top picks for playgrounds for toddlers in Adelaide and we hope you’ll love it too.

Tucked away on a quiet suburban street in Parkside this is a pretty little park with a bike track/walking trail running just behind it.

The play equipment is colourful and engaging, and looks reasonably new, and while it’s fabulous for crawlers and toddlers, we think there’s plenty to do for older kids too.

The climbing structures will be challenging for smaller kids, but adventurous toddlers will enjoy climbing up to the top and then going down the slide.

Leicester Street Playground would also be a great venue for a birthday party. And if your kids love trains then they will love crawling in and out of tubes that form the train structure.

What we love about Leicester Street Playground

❤️ It’s fully fenced and great for toddlers with a rubber floored play surface

❤️ Climbing on the little raised rocklike formations on the rubber surface – the frog was a particular favourite with our toddlers

❤️ Jumping from one purple plastic mushroom-like structure to another is fun for bigger kids. Tip: You could also challenge older kids to make their way around the climbing structure touching only one or two colours

❤️ The large lawn area which is perfect for kicking a ball or throwing a frisbee

❤️ The alphabet hopscotch snake

❤️ The trees around the park provide some shade on sunny days

❤️ If you’ve got kids that love getting out on their bikes then you could head for a ride along the walking trail behind Leicester Street Playground.

❤️ There’s a drinking fountain just outside the gate to the walking/bike trail.

Things to consider:

❤️ There is no direct shade over the playground but there is a picnic table under a beautiful old tree.

❤️ There are no toilets at the park.

❤️ BYO chalk so your kids can unleash their artistic skills on the paved area by the alphabet snake. The last time we went to Leicester Street Playground there were birthday greetings and pictures on the paved surface.
