Lunar Landing Cafe | Brompton | Review

Lunar Landing Cafe in Brompton has out of this world desserts that kids (and adults!) will love.

Located in the back streets of Brompton, Lunar Landing is a popular new cafe and with good reason – their cakes and desserts look amazing and taste amazing too. There’s plenty to choose from, and you’ll want to order a drink here too. The hot chocolate not only looks impressive, it’s one of the best hot chocolates we’ve tasted and it’s perfect for kids.

Lunar Landing’s signature dessert is the Full Moon, a cake filled with guava mousse, hawthorn berries and almond sponge. It’s light and sweet, and you’ll be snapping photos of it before tucking in.

Equally stunning is the Pear – it looks so realistic it’s hard to believe it’s not an actual pear, but a dessert filled with pear mousse and juniper berry, wrapped in crisp chocolate.

There are also plenty of basque cheesecake options and tarts in the cabinet to choose from, as well as a fancy lamington.

Options from the kitchen include churros and ube spring rolls. We tried the churros and the serve was huge, with brownies, biscoff, strawberries and coconut ice cream on the side.

Hot drinks include coffees and teas. We tried the vanilla matcha latte and ube latte for some extra colour. Both were delicious. Some tea options are caffeine free and suitable for kids, but really, they’re going to go for the marshmallow fluff hot chocolate!

There’s plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside in the sunshine. There are high chairs available and all tables have small stools that cater to adults and small children alike. There’s a toilet out the back of the cafe.

Note that the cafe can get quite busy, so if you want to be guaranteed a signature dish, it’s best to arrive shortly after opening. Note that the Pear is only served on weekends. The Pear is gluten free, and the churros are vegan friendly, and some drinks have milk options for those with dairy intolerances.

During busy times it might be difficult to find a park nearby. We recommend parking on Drayton Street if there are no parks on Hawker Street.

Location:

2/28A Hawker Street, Brompton. Open 12pm-6pm daily.
