Mt Lofty Botanic Garden Closed Until Further Notice | Coronavirus COVID-19 Closures

mt lofty botanic garden closed

Mt Lofty Botanic Garden has been closed due to the ongoing Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

Usually Mt Lofty Botanic Garden is a popular destination this time of year. This is when many South Australians enjoy seeing the beautiful changing Autumn leaves on a walk through the wonderland, and it’s hard to find a car park on the weekends. Sadly this will not be the case this year. Due to the usual high numbers of visitors on the weekends during Autumn, Mt Lofty Botanic Garden has made the decision to close for now.

Here is their message from the Mt Lofty Botanic Garden Facebook Page

“Following Federal and State Government advice, it is with a heavy heart we announce that Mount Lofty Botanic Garden will be temporarily closed to the public from 4pm today (Friday 27 March 2020) until further notice.

The decision was made in an effort to protect visitors and staff during what is usually a peak time for Mount Lofty Botanic Garden, as the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve.

We will continue to channel energy into our digital presence and hope that you will celebrate Autumn Colours with us through our social media platforms. There will be opportunities to share photos of Mount Lofty Botanic Garden from previous years or the autumn colours in your own garden.”

You can still visit and explore the tranquil spaces at Adelaide Botanic Garden and Wittunga Botanic Garden but please be reminded to comply with garden regulations and all Government mandated social distancing and hygiene requirements (staying at least 1.5 metres apart).

Please see the Mt Lofty Botanic Garden website here and you can follow their social media pages for updates.

See our guide for other open outdoor places you can visit

Please check before going anywhere in case of closures – there are changes happening every day.
