Meet Nipper and Nimble | Carrick Hill | 8 Aug 2026 – 3 Jan 2027
Step inside the historic Carrick Hill Stables and meet Nipper and Nimble, the much-loved life-sized horse figures who brought joy to generations of South Australian children in the Magic Cave at John Martin’s each Christmas.
Each Saturday at Carrick Hill you can now get up close to these iconic Christmas horses, hear a little about their special place in Adelaide’s Christmas tradition, and capture some memorable photos together. This unique experience offers a wonderful opportunity to meet two treasured members of Adelaide’s festive history.
Children under 150cm tall and weighing less than 65kg will also have the opportunity to sit on Nimble for a photo, making this a truly magical experience for young visitors.
To ensure everyone has a comfortable visit, and because space in the stables is limited, a maximum of four people can attend each session. If your group has more than four people, please book consecutive sessions so there is enough time for everyone to enjoy the experience.
Session Information:
- 10-minute experience
- Maximum 4 people per session
- Meet Nipper and Nimble up close
- Photo opportunities with both horses
- Children under 150cm tall and 65kg may sit on Nimble for a photo
- Tickets are $17.50 for a 10 minute session (max 4 people per session)
If you would like to book a private session with Nipper and Nimble (outside of the usual session hours), please contact eventscarrickhill@sa.gov.au.
Private sessions start from $100.00 for a 30-minute experience, with pricing varying depending on the length and time.
