Osborne Foreshore Playground | Osborne | Review

Osborne Foreshore Playground in Osborne is a seaside playground with everything you need – fully fenced, fully shaded, accessible equipment and toilet facilities.

Review by Claire Davill

This playground ticks all the boxes. There’s off-street parking, there’s a toilet nearby, the playground is fully fenced and fully shaded. There’s a variety of equipment, and access to the beach as an added bonus.

The big red lighthouse tower includes a cute little play cafe underneath, complete with it’s own little table and chairs. Higher up, access via an accessible ramp gives smaller and bigger kids views over the dunes to the sea.

Climbing blocks are scattered around the base of the lighthouse and are the perfect size for toddlers to clamber over.

The accessible ramp connects all levels of the playground. Near the lower end is a toddler-friendly slide and some hoops forming a climbing ladder.

Other toddler-friendly features here include a play clock, height chart and little climbing wall.

More challenging equipment includes stepping stone poles and tethered ropes. The ropes have a lot of height so older kids can challenge themselves by climbing up higher.

There’s a bigger slide at the other end of the the equipment.

A toddler swing, regular swing and rocking horse are also included in the fenced and shaded area.

Just outside of the fenced area is a basketball hoop and some exercise equipment. There’s also a picnic shelter and barbeque nearby, as well as two toilets.

Things to Consider:

  • This playground is located along the coastal bike/walking path. It makes a great stop on a bike ride or an ideal place to start or finish a bike ride.
  • There is an access path to the beach right across the bike path from the playground.

Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:

The Beach Haven Cafe is located 650 metres north of the playground along Lady Gowrie Drive, and is open Wednesday-Sunday from 8am-2pm

Location:

Lady Gowrie Drive, Osborne. The entrance to the off-street parking is just north of the playground, north of Moldavia Walk.

The Semaphore Playground is one of the stops along the North Haven to Point Malcolm Coastal Bike Path – read our family-friendly bike ride review.
