OZ-E KARTS – Electric Go Karts | Play & Go Review
If youβve got older kids who love some real life Mario Kart action, then go karting brings all the fun. Ditch the video games for a while to get behind a real steering wheel with some fast driving.
We visited OZ-E KARTS – the home of fully electric indoor karts – with a group of excited boys, some young (ages 15 to 19) and some βyoung at heartβ Dads. Itβs a different experience being at an indoor track – you donβt need to worry about the weather. In this huge warehouse even in the middle of Summer, it was not hot and well ventilated.
After watching a short video to explain all the procedures and safety rules, the eager racers donned their helmets and got strapped into their go karts with the help of two OZ-E KART crew.
The first lap of the circuit is a slow one to help drivers acclimatise to driving, and test out the turns, especially with the drifting feel of the karts. Then once youβve done the lap the kart then automatically switches to normal speed where drivers control the acceleration. The session goes for 10 minutes which doesnβt sound very long but it is quite intense and feels longer than expected.
With the electric motor and high torque you can drift and slide around the track unlike a regular petrol go kart. You have the fun of going across the stop start line and drifting (sliding) sideways along the straight. Itβs more like driving a rally car on dirt than driving a race car on a track. Itβs a really different experience than a normal go kart. You get a Mario Kart like experience but without lucky blocks and obstacles thrown at you.
Itβs a super fun experience and something a little bit different to do, especially with older kids.
Things we loved:
- The staff are really friendly and helpful.
- Everything feels very clean – you even get a hair net to wear underneath your helmet. You can bring your own balaclava and full-face helmet, if you like.
- Sessions for adults and kids are kept separate sessions for adults and kids – they cannot drive on the track at the same time.
- The whole atmosphere feels family friendly.
- Because the go karts are electric, there are no petrol smells
Things to consider:
- Adult sessions are set for 10 minutes, while junior sessions have a duration of 7 minutes.
- Make sure you wear enclosed shoes, hair tied back and no baggy clothing.
Age and height requirements:
- Adult Karts: Ages 12 years and above, minimum height 140cm, maximum weight 130kg
