Pasticcino Bar e Caffè – the new Italian dessert and gelato bar delivering Italy to Dernancourt.

Pasticcino is the new Italian kid on the block, delivering Italian cakes, coffee and gelato to the North East. Located right next to its savoury sibling, Pizza Reggina, Pasticcino is the perfect edition bringing sweet treats to the area in an authentic Italian style.
Pasticcino is small, simple but incredibly inviting. The décor is paired back with pretty pink walls, marble bench tops, a large mirror to make the space feel more expansive and big glass window frontage. What is special about this space is the warm service that makes you feel like you are stepping into Nonna’s house, alongside the great selection of sweet treats that are handmade on site.
Behind the counter they have two slushy machines with lemon granita and crema di caffee, which are the perfect iced drink for warm days, albeit super sweet.
We visited early on a Wednesday afternoon and got in before the dessert rush. There is a small car park next door and in front of the shop and seating both indoors and out. We were able to taste a large selection of gelati and the kids absolutely loved “pan di stelle” an Italian style cookies and cream flavour. The sfogliatelle and cannoli were also very much enjoyed and next time we have our sights on the maritozzi (Italian cream bun).
Even though Pasticcino has only been open for a short time, they are proving to be a popular spot for locals and we can understand why! So if you are in search of an end of school treat for the kids definitely give Pasticcino a try.
Things to consider
- This shop is very small and parking is limited so be mindful of this during peak times
- No high chairs available
- Toilets on site but no baby change facilities
- No gelatine in the gelato
- As they manufacture wheat products on site all product may have trace levels of gluten so not suitable for individuals with celiac disease
- Take home packs of gelati are available
- You can also order a custom gelato cake
