Playford Palace is back by popular demand for five weeks of FREE and low-cost events the whole family can enjoy this February and March.

Playford Palace will be coming to many community venues and spaces as they broaden their Adelaide Fringe entertainment program in 2019. The Festival is set to entertain audiences, no matter the age or interest, with their enchanted palace in the Stretton Centre to a community multicultural street art feature at Elizabeth Rise Community Centre.

Some family-friendly highlights of Playford Palace Festival include:

Fringey Fun Cinema Series – Willy Wonka

Saturday 16 February 2019 at 8pm – 11pm | Fremont Park, Elizabeth Park | FREE

Enjoy an evening under the stars with some all-time favourite family classics on the big screen. The Fringey Fun Cinema Series are bringing the astounding world of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to their screen. Just like Charlie, you will get to be shown the secrets of his amazing candy.

Take picnic rugs and a basket for this FREE night out for the whole family.

 

Silver Beat Rock Choir

Monday 4 March 2019 at 1:30pm – 3:30pm | Shedley Theatre, Elizabeth | Tickets $10 

The Silver Beat Rock Choir consists of people aged 65 years and over who aim to challenge the myths of how an older person should act and behave. The group does just that, performing music from artists such as Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Paul Young, the Beatles, ABBA and more.

Tickets are available at the Grenville Hub reception within the Playford Civic Centre for $10 (including Devonshire afternoon tea within the Grenville Hub).

 

Sanaa North Street Art Fest

Sunday 2 March 2019 at 2pm – 6pm | Elizabeth Rise Community Centre | FREE

Ugandan street artist, Sparrow, is set to add a splash of colour to Playford Palace festivities. Sparrow will use the art form of graffiti to promote change and unify voices, while creating a beautiful space for the community at Elizabeth Rise. Immerse yourself in a family-friendly cultural experience of music, dance and food as you witness the artwork come to life.

 

NSS Block Party

Saturday 16 March 2019 at 3pm – 6pm | Northern Sound System, Elizabeth | FREE

The Northern Sound System (NSS) crew are hosting a New York style street party. Chill to the urban beats of local DJs as they spin the decks in the skate park and watch the pros showcase their skateboarding and street art tricks.

 

Fringey Fun Cinema Series – The BFG

Saturday 23 March 2019 at 8pm – 11pm | Playford City Tennis Centre | FREE

Enjoy an evening under the stars with some all-time favourite family classics on the big screen. The BFG is the beautiful story of an orphan girl who befriends a benevolent giant who takes her to Giant Country, where the duo attempt to stop the man-eating giants that are invading the human world.

Take along picnic rugs and a basket to enjoy a FREE night out for the whole family.

 

The Enchanted Palace Garden Party

Saturday 23 February 2019 at 10:30am & 12pm | Stretton Centre, Munno Para | $2 per child

See Merlin the Magician who will enchant the crowd with his magical art prowess. The Fairy Princesses from the Playford Library will be busily making bejewelled crowns, while retelling the tale of Jack and The Beanstalk.

There will be two sessions at the Stretton Centre. Bookings are essential.

Tommy Little Live:

Saturday 9 March 2019 | 6pm

For the older kids and the adults, Tommy Little is coming to the Shedley Theatre for the 2019 Playford Palace Festival as part of the Adelaide Fringe. With sell-out shows across the country, Little is an exciting comedian of his generation.

As seen on The Project and heard on Hit Network’s Carrie & Tommy, this is a chance to be entertained by Little’s quick wit.

Tickets are $40. An administration fee of $1 per ticket applies.
