Pop-Up Play Day in the Parklands – REPLAY!

Splash Adelaide and Honk! have got together to bring pop-up play back and finish the school holidays with a big pile of junk. They will be pulling out the crates, the tyres, the ropes, the pipes and everything else for a full day of building, creating and lots and lots of fun.
Their fabulous yarn-bombed tee-pee team will be there too with their lovely crafty activities with wool.
Coffee, cold drinks and snacks available, or a bring a picnic and settle down under the beautiful trees.
This is not your typical playground. Honk Pop-up Play are presenting Pop-up Play Day, where kids get to shape and reshape natural and recycled materials into whatever they want; a hide-out made from planks and crates, a puzzle built of tyres, even a maze using balls and PVC pipes – the possibilities are endless.
This kind of ‘loose parts’ play is designed to stimulate imagination and creativity and let children experiment with risk-taking. The day is guaranteed to be a little bit chaotic, but it’s also going to be a lot of fun!
Located in the securely fenced East Terrace Glover Playground, kids will have the opportunity to build with a range of materials. Volunteer play rangers will support the building process, helping kids to realise their vision without dictating the solution or the outcome.
For younger kids the Adelaide City Council’s Imagination Playground will also be running alongside the adventure play space. You might even want to play on the regular playground at this gorgeous location.
A relaxing hang out area will be set up for parents, with food and drink available or bring a picnic.
Honk Pop-up Play is a volunteer, not for profit organisation run by three mums who are simply passionate about the social and developmental value of adventure play and risk taking for children of all ages and abilities. They provide unconventional pop-up playgrounds where kids are encouraged to create and build their own dynamic play spaces from natural and recycled materials.
