Priscilla, Queen of the Desert Outdoor Cinema Screening | National Motor Museum | 25 Jan 2017

The National Motor Museum will present another of its popular Outdoor Cinema screenings of classic Australian road movies in January, with one of the best feel-good Aussie comedies of the 90s, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

On the scenic grounds of the Museum on Australia Day-Eve, film-lovers can recline on picnic rugs underneath the stars, listen to an all Aussie playlist prior to the film, tuck into their picnic hampers or sample the local produce BBQ. Come sunset, they kick back and enjoy the much-loved road-movie classic.

Priscilla, Queen of the Desert follows two drag queens and a transgender woman on their epic journey across the Australian Outback as they travel in a tour bus named ‘Priscilla’ from Sydney to Alice Springs performing their own unique style of cabaret. Featuring exquisite cinematography of the Australian outback, the film features Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce, and Terence Stamp.

In addition to the film screening, a showcase of Australia’s finest unique vintage caravans will be on the grounds accompanied by their owners who will open their doors on these classic kitsch creations for movie-goers to take a look inside their retro gems.

The Museum is encouraging people to bring blankets and rugs, or low lying chairs, and to camp out on the grounds and enjoy the ambience of this unique setting. They will also be putting on an Aussie BBQ, but picnic baskets and BYO alcohol and drinks are most welcome.

The movie ticket includes Museum entry and a rare glimpse of the collection at twilight.

Tickets: $12 Standard | $10 Concession
