RCC 2020

RCC is back for the Adelaide Fringe and is set to launch an exciting fully-curated 2020 program packed with international superstars, underground cult heroes and local legends, when they return for their second year at the University of Adelaide.

The 2020 program, curated by Artistic Director, David Sefton (former Artistic Director of Adelaide Festival, London’s Meltdown Festival and UCLA Live) and Creative Director, Stuart Duckworth (RCC Founder), focuses on MUSIC, SHOWS, ART and CHOW. Sefton, who is known for his uncompromising world-class programming, makes no exception in 2020 with strong themes of the New York underground, punk rock, feminist icons and contemporary queerness appearing throughout the program.

Architects of Air will bring their latest Luminarium: Daedalum to Barr Smith Lawns. The inflatable art structure has labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes, where no two visits are alike as the atmosphere inside alters according to the changing weather and light outside.

Chow Town blows the standard festival food precinct out of the stratosphere for 2020 with a completely new look, feel and location. RCC will transform the Cloisters area of the University into an outdoor food hub with an electric atmosphere, tantalising menus from Adelaide’s much-loved and exciting new food vendors, and an Instagram worthy aesthetic.

Family Friendly Shows:

ERTH’S DINOSAUR ZOO | 22, 23, 29 FEB & 7, 8, 14, 15 MAR 2020

From creators Erth Visual & Physical Inc., critically acclaimed international hit ‘Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo’ takes audiences into a new dimension of theatre. Hot on the heels of sell-out seasons at the Edinburgh Festival, Sydney Opera House and London’s South Bank, Australia’s prehistoric sensation returns to Adelaide for the first time in five years. Get right up close and personal with an amazing array of prehistoric creatures, from baby dinos to some of the largest carnivores and herbivores that have ever walked the planet. READ MORE HERE

LUMINARIUM: DAEDALUM | 14 FEB – 15 MAR 2020

Transport yourself into a world of radiant colour, labyrinthine tunnels and cavernous domes. Experience the surprising luminosity, calming hues and unexpected beauty likened to travelling through a stained glass window, a futuristic space station, or a living breathing sculpture of air and light. For all ages, no two visits are alike as the Luminarium’s atmosphere changes according to the weather and light outside.

Kids under 12 and UOA X RCC members are free and no booking is required. Entry is on a first come first served basis. Advance ticket holders must arrive 10 minutes before the booked time and have priority access up to 30 minutes from the time indicated on the ticket. A small queue should still be expected.

Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult (maximum four kids per adult). READ MORE HERE

FLAT OUT FRINGE HOSTED BY SONYA FELDHOFF | 21 FEB 2020

Sonya Feldhoff hits the stage alongside a variety of Fringe acts to showcase the 2020 season. Go along to the RCC Cloisters on Friday 21 February at 12.30pm for this Fringe-tastic afternoon of entertainment broadcast live on ABC Radio Adelaide. An all-ages event featuring live performances and artist interview. If you can’t join in tune in to ABC Radio Adelaide on 891 AM or on the ABC listen app. This is a FREE event with a large capacity. STEVE REICH MUSIC FOR 18 MUSICIANS | 13 FEB 2020

For the first time, SA audiences will hear Music for 18 Musicians in live performance. 4 pianos, 7 percussion and 4 singers feature in the line up for this mesmerising work, included in Bowie’s list of 25 of his favourite albums of all time (“Confessions of a Vinyl Junkie”). 18 is often regarded as Reich’s masterpiece.

DAVE COURT – LOLLIPOP LAND | 14 FEB – 15 MAR 2020

Multi-disciplinary artist, and Fringe visionary, Dave Court further etches his name into RCC folklore with his reality-bending aesthetic and material experimental piece, Lollipop Land. Lollipop Land is a vibrant, juicy, handmade explosion filled with textures, ideas and self-doubt – a colourful blur between painting, sculpture, video and photography that paddles out into the blurry zone of digital, physical, real or make believe.

This is a free event with no tickets needed. Find it at the Little Theatre at RCC.
