Red, Rock & Ribs | Morphettville | 22 & 23 June 2019

Red, Rock & Ribs – Two huge days of beer, BBQ, wine and rock music all in a family friendly venue

We’ve all been there. It’s winter and you are trapped inside, with the kids — who are going bananas with boredom. Climbing up the proverbial walls and driving you a bit spare. It’s that or you’ve laden yourself with guilt over yet another afternoon given in to the ease and entertainment value of the household iPad… but they are educational games.. right?

It’s time for a change of scenery!

Red, Rock & Ribs is 100% kid friendly, and it’s the perfect way to get out and spend some quality family time together all the while, enjoying the two day festival Morphettville has created to celebrate the best things in life; wine, BBQ and classic cars.

Entertainment will include:

  • FLAMING SAMBUCAS
  • MR. BUZZY
  • REGGAE ON
  • THE INCREDIBLES
  • NEW ROMANTICS
  • CLEARWAY

Here are their top tips on how you can make the most out of Red, Rock & Ribs with the family in tow!

NO. 1  |  FREE SHOW BAGS FOR KIDS

That’s right! They make kids feel right at home with a free Red, Rock & Ribs show bag on arrival for the first 100 children through the doors.

The show bag includes bubbles, a lollipop, hot chocolate and cup with marshmallows (which they can use at Red, Rock & Ribs), an activity book and colouring pencils, marshmallows and stick for roasting in the fire pits (parental assistance required for this) and more.  They only have 100 of these show bags, which is why they suggest getting in early!

NO. 2  |  GAMES GAMES & MORE GAMES

Inside their cosy Cellar Door precinct, they’ve sectioned off an area and filled it to the brim with games including a bean bag toss, quoits, giant dominoes and giant noughts and crosses plus a crafting area where kids can enter their colouring competition.  There will also be a self guided scavenger hunt to keep young minds busy.

NO. 3  |  TOAST A MARSHMALLOW

They will have camp fire marshmallows and roasting sticks available which you can toast in the fire pits.  Get the ooey gooey goodness of a marshmallow and hot chocolate into you, and suddenly winter doesn’t seem so bad!

NO. 4  |  FIRE SIDE BBQ COMPETITION

This is no joke… BBQ competitions are the real deal and when it comes to win or lose, the stakes (or should we say steaks) are high! They have confirmed 34 teams (with names like Texas Coleslaw Massacre) who are ready to compete for the trophy at this year’s 2019 Fire Side BBQ Competition.  Watch them rub, roast, rack up and roulade their way to victory. Lots of activity and fun on the day.

NO. 5  |  GATHER YOUR FRIENDS

If you’ve been meaning to catch up with your close friends and their kids well Red, Rock & Ribs is quite easily the best event to do just that.  Taste test and sample some of the best wines, craft beers and ciders from around the State all inside their cosy little precinct.  Plus, while you sample… the kids can play, eat and explore.

THOROUGHBRED HORSE RACING

Head down to Morphettville on Saturday, and you’ll not only experience all that Red, Rock & Ribs has to offer, they’ll treat you to some of South Australia’s best thoroughbred racing.  Kids will be able to get up close to some of SA’s upcoming racing superstars.  Wave to the jockeys as they ride past on their way to the barriers and feel the rush as the horses hammer down the home straight towards the Winning Post.
