South Australians are being asked to put schnitties on the menu this May and pledge to support an end to bullying and drug and alcohol-fuelled youth violence.
The fundraising initiative #schnitty4sam organised by the Sammy D Foundation commemorates the life of the charity’s namesake, Sam Davis. Sam was 17 years-old when he played a game of footy, had a schnitty for dinner at South Adelaide’s clubrooms, before heading to a party with his mates. A fatal one-punch attack meant he never came home.
With violence in schools up 22% over the past three years, #schnitty4sam aims to raise $70,000 to deliver Sammy D Foundation’s life-changing education programs that provide knowledge and strategies to approximately 5000 young people to help keep themselves and their mates safe.
In 2024 the #schnitty4sam community ate 45,888 schnitzels which raised $61,752. This allowed them to educate 6,175 young people about the impact violence has on our community.
This year they have a $15,000 donation goal from generous individuals like you, and a collective goal of $85,000 that will include the support of participating venues and their friends Drakes Supermarkets in South Australia and Queensland.
How to get involved:
