Sky Song at the Adelaide Fringe 2022 – Extended to 25 & 26 March
The centrepiece of this year’s Fringe is Sky Song at Leconfield and Richard Hamilton Wines in McLaren Vale. Watch the sky come alive with hundreds of drones flying in majestic formation, unlike anything you’ve seen before.
Due to popular demand – new sessions added 25 & 26 March 2022
Drone art specialists, Celestial, and First Nations Artists invite you to gaze up, and reignite your relationship with the stars at Sky Song during the 2022 Adelaide Fringe.
Watch the sky come alive with hundreds of drones flying in majestic formation to a soundtrack of First Nations storytelling through poetry and song. Immense in scale, rich in meaning and unlike anything you’ve seen before.
Narrated by singer, songwriter and tireless campaigner Archie Roach, Sky Song unfolds over five chapters, taking audiences through topics of belonging and connection to country, land rights, the hopefulness of reconciliation and much more.
“It is time for us all to find our way back to the fire, for the strong stories of our First Peoples to inspire hope and signify an awakening to the truth of our entire existence”. Archie Roach in Sky Song

Location – McLaren Vale:
Just 40 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD, Leconfield and Richard Hamilton Wines is an iconic destination in the beautiful McLaren Vale wine region, surrounded by sweeping vineyards and views looking out to the Willunga Hills. The venue has hosted many major events and concerts in the past.
Previously planned for Adelaide Showgrounds, drone flight restrictions at that location were limiting. The new venue, out of town, will allow Sky Song’s hundreds of drones to fly much higher over the hills in the darker skies, away from the city’s light spill – further enhancing the majestic impact that was always intended. The stories in Sky Song lend themselves perfectly to this countryside backdrop, making for an even more immersive experience of First Nations storytelling.
About Celestial:
Celestial is a creative collective of filmmakers, event producers and tech wizards with a passion for innovative storytelling. Celestial’s pioneering drone art inspires audiences to gaze up, reigniting our relationship with the stars.
