Solandra Reserve | Modbury North | Review

Solandra Reserve is a gem of a playground in the North East of Adelaide that local families love!
Review by Angelica-Hazel Toutounji
Located in Modbury North on Solandra Crescent, just off Ladywood Road, this peaceful playground is nestled on a quiet street in a beautiful setting surrounded by trees and next to a lovely little wetland.

Solandra Reserve is a great spot for families wanting a quick playground pit stop or the perfect destination for a party, catch up or picnic.
A great way to start your visit is to head to the wetland reserve right next to the playground to check out the local wildlife, listen to the birds, watch out for butterflies and spy the neighbourhood ducks and ibis that frequent the area. After your nature fix make your way next door to the playground and set yourself up on the grass, on a park bench or undercover on the table and chairs.

Once at the park there are so many options for the kids to enjoy. There is a big basket swing, a slide, monkey bars, two small swings, a pump track, climbing nets, nature pay equipment and an incredible sandpit and water play area. Alongside the play equipment there is also a big grassed area for kids to run around on and enjoy. For our kids aged five and seven, they can’t go past the messy fun to be had with the sand and water play area so for this reason it’s a good idea to pack a spare change of clothes.

Some of the features that make the reserve a great place to linger longer is the BBQ and toilet facilities, seating options, shaded picnic table and water fountain. This playground is also conveniently located a few minutes from Westfield Tea Tree Plaza if you want to grab a bite to eat, a coffee or do some shopping before your visit.

All in all this playground might not be the biggest one in the area nor is it fully fenced but it is a lovely peaceful setting that the kids always beg to visit time and again!

What we like about it:
- There is a lot to love about this playground, its well thought out, spacious, has toilets and BBQ facilities and the kids can’t get enough of the sand pit and water area
Things to consider:
- This place is a hit with local families so arriving early to secure your spot is a good idea
- This playground isn’t fully fenced so its important to be mindful of this, it also has wetlands next door
Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:
- There are plenty of coffee options at the nearby Westfield Tea Tree Plaza
Location:
33-37 Solandra Cres, Modbury North
