Splish Splash Science! | Adelaide Fringe 2026 | Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️   5 Stars for a show that’s part science, part circus, part musical theatre, and all splashes.

There are plenty of science-based shows for kids at the Fringe, but this offering from That Science Gang (the people responsible for Alphabet of Awesome Science and You are a Doughnut) is definitely for the more refined junior scientists out there. It’s less chaotic and full of far more science facts, while still being silly, hilarious and downright impressive. 

The charismatic performer, Rip Tide, sings his way through the science behind water with the choreography and pipes (get it?) that rival Broadway musicals. This man can sing, and his fondness for sesquipedalian lyrics adds to the humour.

Expect plenty of water to escape the performance. If you don’t like being sprayed (or potentially drenched), avoid the first few rows and definitely don’t volunteer to go up on stage!

That said, there is plenty of audience interaction, with volunteers required for many of Rip’s scientific experiments. Kids will be giggling as they assist in the performance, often managing to stay dry until “oops”, Rip’s let go of the apparatus and water is now going everywhere (but mostly on his volunteers).

Juggling molecules, bigger and bigger bubbles, flying globes and even a bit of fire keeps the show engaging and fun, and everyone will learn something along the way.

Splish Splash Science’s heavy emphasis on scientific information means it’s a show most suitable for primary school aged kids, but there’s enough humour and visual spectacle to keep smaller children engaged, and enough groan-worthy jokes to keep the adults laughing along as well.
