Taste Buds Educational Food Program for Kids
As part of Tasting Australia 2017, Kitchen Stage Management will be hosting an educational food program for kids called “Taste Buds’.
Taste Buds is designed to educate children in a fun and hands on way about healthy eating habits and also teaching children about where their food comes from .
Taste Buds will run 3 different classes over 3 days: Sunday 30 April 2017, Saturday 6 May 2017 & Sunday 7 May 2017.
Taste Buds Food Facts for Kids Sunday 30 April 2017
Do you know where your food comes from?
Do you know where your food comes from? Do you know your fruit from your vegetables? How does a brussel sprout grow? Callum Hann & Themis Chryssidis from Sprout Cooking School will answer all your kids questions about food and lead them on a food fact journey. Callum & Themis will walk the kids around the garden beds to collect their ingredients and then they will create a delicious, nutritious recipe to munch on. This session is filled with fun food facts and delicious treats. Recipes will be included in their take home goody bag.
Taste Buds Food Art – Saturday 6 May
Do you love to paint and do you love to create? Do you like playing with your food? Well this session is for you!
Come along to paint and create with food while learning about our food source.
Be guided by local artists Kirsty Shadiac from ArtVenture and Kate Hubmayer, Author of Nature Craft for Aussie Kids. During the sessions each child will have the opportunity to work with the artist to paint and create a food craft masterpiece. Be guided by the artist, to work your magic with your paintbrush to decorate Picasso the life size cow as well as creating an art piece using pasta, beans, pulses, seeds and other bits and pieces. Every child will take home a goody bag.
Taste Buds Plant A Pizza – Sunday 7 May 2017
They need kids who love pizza. They need kids who love to grow food. They need kids who love to eat
If you are one of these kids then go along and be part of their Plant a Pizza day.
Not only will the children learn what to plant in a pizza garden, they will be able to harvest their own fresh seasonal vegetables and herbs and then make their very own wood-fired pizza. ABC Television Gardening Australia presenter Sophie Thomson will show the children what it takes to grow a pizza garden and how to harvest fresh ingredients. Every child will take home a goody bag.
