Ten Thousand Hours | Adelaide Fringe 2026 | Review

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars for sublime and inspiring acrobatics.

Review by Sharon Harrington

Ten Thousand Hours is an awe-inspiring physical theatre performance presented by award winning, Adelaide-based circus company, Gravity and Other Myths (GOM).

Having seen the excellent ‘A Simple Space’, also by GOM, a few years ago, I was confident we were in for an amazing show and was not let down.

The vibe of this show is very family friendly, as it has a lighthearted, fun attitude with none of the nudity or adult themes which can be a part of many circus shows at the Adelaide Fringe. Our Play & Go tweens loved it and were on the edge of their seats, mesmerised by the performers’ every move.

The name of the show, Ten Thousand Hours, is a nod to the countless number of hours it is said that it takes to become an expert in a skill.

The audience witnesses eight performers come together to demonstrate the incredible effort and practice it takes to master the art of acrobatics, complete with falls, wobbles and nerve wracking recoveries. They also show us the resulting strong and beautiful performers, who move with an effortless fluidity to flip, tumble, leap and hoist each other up into the air to form human towers and pyramids. It’s breathtaking to watch.

The set and costumes are stripped back and simple in design, with a glowing countdown clock in the background. This emphasises the flawless, dance like movements of the performers. A live drummer also keeps the beat, along with a soundtrack of classical music.

If you are looking for family friendly outing with the kids at the Fringe, we highly recommend Ten Thousand Hours, at Gluttony until Saturday 7 Mach 2026.
