The Entrance Playground | Angle Vale | Review

The Entrance Playground in Angle Vale is an exciting play space for kids with a brilliant ‘cliff rider’ apparatus.

Review by Claire Davill

We’ve never seen one of these in a South Australian playground before, a cliff rider. Our 9 year old reviewer has declared it “the best thing ever”! This piece of equipment is located in a brand new playground in a brand new housing estate in Angle Vale, and there’s plenty more in this small playground to explore.

The cliff rider allows you to swing from one tower to the other. It’s like a hinged pole vault, and it can be a little challenging at first. It’s heavy, and it takes awhile to get a feel for how it swings. We recommend a few goes with an adult pushing the rider from below to start off with.

The cliff rider towers have several climbing methods to reach the platforms at each end, with varying levels of difficulty, as well as a fireman’s pole. This is definitely a piece of equipment designed for bigger kids.

The playground also has a twisty tube slide, regular slide, plenty of climbing nets and other equipment.

The main piece of equipment also has a connect four activity board and rope stepping stones.

There are also a couple of swings (including a toddler swing) and a basket swing in the playground.

There’s a small picnic shelter, drinking fountain, benches and stepping stones throughout the park as well.

Things to Consider:

  • The playground is not fenced, although all the streets bordering the playground are very quiet. You will still need to keep a close eye on little ones
  • There is no shade in the playground, so bring hats and sunscreen
  • Don’t be discouraged if you can’t figure out the cliff rider right away. It took us several goes to feel confident crossing from side to side.

Our favourite nearby coffee spots/cafes:

  • Angle Vale Shopping Centre is a 2 minute drive away, with cafes, a supermarket and a takeaway.

Location:

Corner of Cavatappi St and Legno St, The Entrance, Angle Vale.

The playground is in a very new development, not all maps show the roads. Enter from Virgara Way, off of Heaslip Road. Turn right onto Acino Place to reach Cavatappi Street.
