The Gardens Kiosk (Simpson Kiosk) | Adelaide Botanic Garden | CLOSED

2024 UPDATE: The Gardens Kiosk is now permanently closed and has been replaced by The Botanic Lodge, an all-day diner under chef Tom Tilbury.

Botanic Lodge | Adelaide Botanic Garden | Review

The Gardens Kiosk (Simpson Kiosk) is a favourite spot to take the kids for a light lunch, coffee and cake, or even a cheeky ice cream. The setting is beautiful, the coffee is good, the food is tasty and there is ample space for prams, groups and little kids that can’t sit still.

Offering outdoor and undercover dining, you can choose to sit underneath the giant leafy oak tree, beside the serene main lake or indoors with a touch of hipster vibes – think leather couches and velvet vintage chairs.

Please be aware that when dining near the lake it is not fully fenced so as always be vigilant with children around water.

Wildlife Spotting by the Lake

Kids will love that there are loads of ducks and other birds inhabiting the lake and on a lucky day you might spot some turtles having a swim like we did.

Serving up classics such as gourmet sandwiches, toasties, freshly baked pastries, salads, burgers, fish & chips, cakes and ice creams, there’s something for everyone. The cafe is licensed so there’s even a beer and wine list, if you’d like to settle in for a long lunch amongst the beautiful surroundings.

From our experiences, the BBQ beef short rib toastie is delicious, as is the Ruben sandwich and sourdough chicken and avocado sandwich. The kids love a ham and cheese croissant, ice cream, milkshake or babycino. The cakes are always really lovely too.
