Urban Myth Theatre Company of South Australia is an internationally award winning youth arts organisation. The company has nurtured the talents and leadership skills of over 10,000 young people in Adelaide, Rural South Australia and Internationally through their extensive Workshop Program and Production Seasons.
In 1981, theatre director Brigid Kitchin realised an opportunity to offer professional theatre workshops for young people in the Unley City area. Without hesitation, Unley Council supported Brigid’s dream with access to the ‘Cottage’ on Edmund Avenue and that is where the company resided for 31 years until, in 2012, the company relocated to its own theatre home….The Goodwood Institute.
Urban Myth Theatre Company has existed for 32 years to provide quality arts programs that offer young people and emerging artists a safe environment to develop their skills both artistic and personal. The company’s programs are staffed by appropriate professional and respected artists ensuring excellence, relevance and inclusivity. They are dedicated to giving children a positive arena to work in, building their confidence, identity, problem solving skills and a true sense of community.
