What’s on at The Capri Theatre | Goodwood

Find out what’s on at The Capri Theatre.

Stepping into the Capri Theatre feels a little like travelling back in time. One of Adelaide’s most loved historic cinemas, this beautiful art deco theatre in Goodwood combines old-world charm with modern movie-going, making it so much more than just a place to catch a film.

From the moment you walk through the doors, the Capri’s vintage character shines through, with its striking art deco interiors, grand auditorium and famous Wurlitzer organ creating a truly memorable cinema experience. If you time your visit right (Wednesdays & Thursdays), you might even catch the organ rising dramatically from beneath the stage before the movie begins – something kids and adults alike find pretty magical.

The Capri is also home to one of Adelaide’s most iconic cinema candy bars, stocked with favourites including Haigh’s Chocolates alongside all the classic movie treats. Add in comfortable seating, a fantastic program of family movies, cult classics and special events, and it’s easy to see why generations of Adelaide families continue to return to the Capri Theatre.

The Capri is a heritage-listed Art Deco cinema on Goodwood Rd that hosts special nostalgia and fundraising events and offers discounted movie tickets. Look out for their special school holiday deals here.

Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit – Kid’s Nostalgia Event

Dust off your bunny ears and round up the family for an afternoon of old-school fun at the Capri!

They’re kicking things off with a classic cartoon to warm up those giggles, before stepping back in time for a short silent comedy brought gloriously to life by John Slater on the mighty WurliTzer theatre organ. There’s nothing quite like the sound of pipes, pedals and playful melodies filling the Art Deco auditorium – just as it did in cinema’s golden age.

Then it’s time for cheese, chaos and colossal carrots with the screenign of the beloved claymation adventure Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. When a mysterious beast starts terrorising Tottington’s vegetable gardens, eccentric inventor Wallace and his long-suffering (and much smarter) dog Gromit must hop into action. Expect cracking contraptions, British wit, and more Wensleydale references than you can shake a celery stick at.

Mr Bean’s Holiday – Kid’s Nostalgia Event

Get ready to rewind the clock and fast-forward the fun! Take a delightful trip down memory lane with a kids’ nostalgia event celebrating the golden days of giggles, cartoons, and classic cinema magic.

The Capri will kick things off with a colourful vintage cartoon on the big screen – the kind that had us glued to the telly on Saturday mornings – followed by a charming short silent comedy, brought gloriously to life by John Slater on the mighty Capri WurliTzer theatre organ. There’s nothing quite like live organ accompaniment to show young audiences how movies used to sparkle before sound!

Then it’s time for our feature presentation: Mr. Bean’s Holiday. Watch as the delightfully bumbling Mr Bean wins a trip to the French Riviera – and turns a simple holiday into a whirlwind of chaos, kindness and side-splitting physical comedy. With barely a word spoken, it’s proof that great comedy is truly timeless.
