Gradually the Dreamstore shelves fill with the dreams, hopes and wishes of WOMADelaide’s children for all to see in window shopping sessions. To complete the dream transaction, each child can take home a photo record of their ‘Dreamproduct’ at the Dreamstore checkout.
Evelyn Roth’s Nylon Zoo
Evelyn Roth’s Nylon Zoo is an interactive children’s experience that has been entertaining children at WOMADelaide for nearly two decades. Each year Evelyn unveils amazing new giant inflatable artworks that children enter to listen to stories, dance, sing and enjoy dressing up in a colourul array of animal costumes.
SA Museum Explorer’s Tent
The fabulous and fascinating explorers tent returns to WOMADelaide with new hands-on science discoveries, activities and entertainment for the whole family. Learning about our natural world has never been so much fun!
There will be face painters, bouncy castles and more.
Other things to look out for:
Mr Culbuto
Don’t miss this 320kg human kelly doll rolling his way through Botanic Park. Part human and part tumble toy, Mr. Culbuto will be sure to be one of those joyous WOments that you won’t forget.
Osadia
The sculptural quality of hairstyling becomes theatre in the barber’s chairs of Osadia. This Barcelona street theatre company transforms any audience member who dares accept the challenge to sit, as Osadia’s outlandish performers create original, provocative and sophisticated makeup and hair art, set to fantastic music mixes.
The Colour of Time
As the sun begins to set each day of the festival it will be accompanied by a rainbow eruption of powder and dance with The Colour of Time reinventing India’s traditional Holi festival. Dancers and musicians lead the public along a choreographed parade towards a huge finale, where people throw brilliant shades of gulal powder in the air to joyfully celebrate unity, acceptance and diversity.
Architects of Air – Exxopolis
A brand new, exclusive addition to WOMADelaide 2015 is the remarkable art installation Exxopolis by Architects of Air. This gigantic inflated sculpture will be yours to enter, explore and marvel at the beauty of light and colour concealed within. Since 1992, these exotic luminaria have bedazzled more than 2 million visitors across 40 countries. Exxopolis is a magnificent structure with soaring 10-metre domes that will provide glowing moments of illuminating calm amidst the buzz of WOMADelaide 2015.
Perhaps best of all, WOMADelaideans are invited to join in the parade!
Energetic 80s spandex enthusiasts, Spandexx Ballet, will be running workshops on Friday and Sunday of the festival, to teach you the moves as only they can. If you’d like to get a head start, check out the (easy) dance steps HERE and HERE and get involved!
