George Whittle Reserve | Prospect Skate Park Review

George Whittle Reserve and Skatepark, Prospect Review by Susannah Marks

George Whittle Reserve / Prospect Skate Park

Review by Susannah Marks

George Whittle Reserve (aka Prospect Skate Park) features a basketball court, tennis court, skate park, BBQ area and play equipment. It’s been given a facelift recently (see images from JPE Design Studio below) with the park having its official open day this month (20 October 2019 from 10am-2pm). If you’re in Adelaide’s inner north this is a fun one to check out – whether it’s for the new skate park facility or the nature-inspired playground.

Prospect Skate Park caters for everyone from beginner skaters to more experienced skaters. We visited Prospect Skate Park during the school holidays and it was full of kids on scooters trying out their moves.

Things we like about George Whittle Reserve / Prospect Skate Park

  • Great new skate park facility
  • Fenced courts
  • Nature inspired playground and climbing equipment
  • Shady spots to sit or enjoy a BBQ
  • There are public toilets available. When we were there last the toilets were being given a facelift with some spray paint.

If you need a break from the action there are shady places to sit and watch.

And if the slopes are too full on for beginner skaters there’s always the option of sliding down.

Nature inspired playground and play area

Overlooking the skate park is nature-inspired play equipment integrating wood with metal.

In addition to logs to balance on, and the main climbing structure, there’s a birds-nest/basket swing, some fitness equipment and an emu-themed play space.

Things to consider

❤️ You might want to BYO safety equipment

❤️ It’s not fully fenced to the road – probably not the place to come if you have toddlers that like to run

You’ll find the new improved Prospect Skate Park at 56 Churchill Road. It’s close to Ovingham railway station and bus stop number 8A on Churchill Road. And if you need coffee it’s close to Little Cafe On Churchill.
