Splash out at the largest waterpark in South Australia
The amazing new jungle-themed waterpark is now open at Top Parks Beachside Holiday Park in Normanville. As soon as you turn down the long driveway towards the holiday park, it’s the first thing you’ll see in the distance at the front of the complex. The excitement builds as you get closer, and the kids will be in awe once you get there.
This new waterpark is HUGE! In fact it’s the largest of its kind in South Australia.

As part of the Top Parks group, Beachside Holiday Park has always been a great family friendly holiday destination, but Park Owners Greg and Elaine Dunn wanted something which would WOW guests. This certainly does the job!
There are seven waterslides in total as part of the large playspace, fountains, a tipper bucket and a collection of jungle animals.
There is also a shaded toddler splash zone with its own little elephant water slide.
A large shaded deck with tables and chairs is great for supervising the water action, and have a snack or lunch.
“We designed our waterpark with the aim of being home to the biggest waterpark, with the most slides, of any caravan park in SA,” said Greg.
The colourful waterpark has been four and a half years in the planning and development. It took six months to build with the help of local businesses and trades contributing to the project.
Park Managers, Erin and Nathan Gutschlag have been hands-on with getting the major attraction up and running, and are thrilled to be able to offer this to guests staying at the park. It will be popular with travellers and locals to enjoy while on a getaway at the holiday park.
Please note that it is not currently available for day visitors. Guests staying at the park will receive special wristbands that allow exclusive entry.
“It will be a major attraction for our customers to experience – we’re looking forward to offering something special and exclusive,” said Nathan.
Beachside Holiday Park Facilities
It’s not hard to see why Beachside is a popular destination for families. There are cabins which can accommodate larger families. The Executive Cabin we stayed in had two bedrooms, the kids’ room had double bunks so it would suit a family with up to four children. This is something which is often difficult to find at hotels, where you may have to sell your first born to pay for an additional room if you have more than two kids. We also love that all cabins include linen – there’s nothing worse than having to do mountains of washing after a holiday.
Various types of cabins are dotted around the shady tree-filled park, surrounding a grassy area for powered sites to accommodate tents and campervans.
Pathways are flat and great for kids to ride around on bikes and scooters.
One of the best things about the park is how close it is to the beach. Just a short stroll over the dune, only about 300 metres away you’ll find crystal clear waters and a white sandy beach. It’s great for a play and swim during the day, or an evening stroll to catch a glorious sunset.
Back at the holiday park there’s also a fenced playground with play equipment for younger kids, swings and a basketball court. The large camp kitchen is well equipped and has a huge undercover dining area to fit large groups. Plus there’s a great BBQ area and outdoor seating in the shade too. The adjacent games room includes table tennis, air hockey, pool table, foosball, pinball machines and other games.
Right next door to the park, you will find the beautiful horses from High Country Trails grazing in the field. You can stop and watch the horses, or even arrange a horse ride along the beach.
Normanville Beach & Town
The small township of Normanville is a short five minute drive away. The Normanville Beach (pictured below with the jetty) is a favourite of ours with soft white sand, and is a safe family beach with lifeguards on the weekend in Summer. In town you’ll find all the services you need with a great Foodland supermarket, chemist, bakery, the best surf shop, butcher, plus a selection of food outlets and cafes. If that’s not enough, less than 10 minutes up the road there is a larger supermarket and bakery, pub and more at Yankalilla. It’s one of the main reasons why we’ve been holidaying in Normanville for the last twelve years – everything is so convenient.
Where to Eat Around Normanville
We can recommend fish & chips and pizza (get your fish crumbed and chicken salt on your chips) from the Normanville Fish Shop & Pizza on the Main Street. The Normanville Hotel is there; plus there’s One Little Sister cafe and Caffe on Bungala. For great Asian food there’s Min Palace tucked behind. At Normanville Beach you’ll find the Normanville Kiosk & Cafe alongside the Surf Club. A little bit closer is the Peninsular Restaurant at the Lady Links Golf Course, where you can also have a hit of golf, and enjoy sunset views while spotting kangaroos on the green in the evenings. A short drive away is Forktree Brewing for food and beers.
Other Places to Explore Near Normanville
From your base at Beachside Holiday Park you can visit beautiful Second Valley, Ingalalla Waterfalls, Kangaroo Island, or go across to Victor Harbor, Middleton and Port Elliot. Visit the Willunga Farmers Market or a winery in McLaren Vale.
The beautiful seaside town of Normanville is only 76km from Adelaide (just over an hour drive). If you’ve never been before, make sure you put it at the top of your list. You can’t beat it for an easy getaway not too far from Adelaide. The Beachside Holiday Park is an ideal place for families to stay, especially with the spectacular new waterpark open exclusively for guests.
