Plan a visit to The Big Rocking Horse in Gumeracha to show your support for a small, local family business.
The Big Rocking Horse in the Adelaide Hills is home to the biggest rocking horse in the world! It is also a 7-acre animal park with a mini golf course, wooden toy factory, picnic areas, gift shop and onsite cafe (currently closed).
A storm in early September caused a power surge and power outage at The Big Rocking Horse, resulting in over $8000 in damages and stock loss. The owners, who only took over in July 2023, have published a statement which you can read on their Facebook post (see below) and they are simply asking for people to still visit the animal park and/or book a round of mini golf to help keep them operating.
They have accepted some generous fundraising in the coming weeks and will use all funds raised to help them upgrade their power-board and re-open the cafe.
WHAT TO DO AT THE PARK:
Standing at 18 metres high, you can climb to the top of The Big Rocking Horse for a small fee.
Shop for wooden toys, all made right here in South Australia by local toy makers.
The 7-acre wildlife park is home to a variety of native animals such as red and grey kangarooβs, wallabies and emus. They also have some farm animals such as goats, alpacas and sheep. Around the ponds you will find native and domestic ducks and geese.
Animal food is sold in the shop, so you can hand feed the animals.
