Introducing the Royal Australian Mint’s 2024 Book Week Series limited edition coin – Where is the Green Sheep?
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of one of Australia’s most popular children’s books, Where is the Green Sheep? by Mem Fox, a very special, colourful new coin has been minted by the Royal Australian Mint.
Fittingly, 20-cent versions of the coin will be released as a ‘coin in card’ and in the front cover of a special edition books. A gold plated colour coin will be packaged in a deluxe edition of the book.
The Royal Australian Mint’s Book Week Series has previously celebrated Australian children’s books Animalia, Diary of a Wombat and Edward the Emu. Once again they have partnered with the Children’s Book Council of Australia on this program, recognising both the importance of reading in children’s development and the joy shared by readers young and old.
The program is designed to appeal to a broad age range with each book an Australian classic. Parents and grandparents now reading the books to their children and grandchildren may have a sense of nostalgia, remembering the story from their childhood.
