A visit to Bill & Peg’s Christmas Lane Lights Display in Lobethal.
Lobethal Lights began in the 1940’s and is now part of the Lobethal Lights Festival, an annual event in the Adelaide Hills that brings thousands of visitors to the town each year. Over time it has grown to become the largest Christmas lights display in South Australia. The standout property is Bill & Peg’s Christmas Lane Lights Display and it really needs to be seen to be believed.
Beginning in 1983 with a single strand of festoon lights, there are now hundreds of thousands of lights throughout the garden and around the house, illuminated wooden cut-outs, a gorgeous nativity display, an Australian themed display, colourful elves and many more characters.
Also part of the display are beautifully decorated windows which are viewed from outside. Visitors are welcome to walk right up to the house and along the verandah to stop and look inside each window where you will discover enchanting Christmas displays with moving parts. There is also a visitors book you can sign.
This year Bill and Peg started setting up their display in September, and with the help of friends in the community they turned on the lights and Bill took some pics when they were completed. Nights can be cold in Lobethal so please be prepared. Lights off by 11pm.The display can be viewed from dusk and is best viewed after sunset around 8:30pm. Lights are turned off by 11pm.

5 Christmas Lane; Lobethal (40kms south-east from Adelaide). Enter from Ridge Road where there is parking along the street. You may have to park a street or two away and walk to Christmas Lane at peak times.
Please be respectful of local residents when parking and always keep to the path.
