Willunga Jubilee Rose Garden Playground | Willunga | Review

The Willunga Jubilee Rose Garden boasts a large open space with plenty to keep kids of all ages and abilities busy.

Review by Adaire Prosser

In the heart of Willunga, the Jubilee Rose Garden is a wide open reserve that has not one, but two playgrounds in addition to a BMX track and skate park. There is a classic style playground with plenty to climb in addition to a separate nature-style playground a few meters away.

The wooden train is an absolute favourite among many of the kids, as there are plenty of spots to climb. It was occupied by kids the whole time we were here! There is also a balance bridge, ropes for climbing, a swing set and a slide with a tunnel underneath. Our four year old reviewer loved the nest for climbing on while our 18 month reviewer was a big fan of the train.

Behind the playground, there is a nature-inspired xylophone to play and some wooden tepees set up. Rocks and logs for climbing and balancing lead the way.

A short walk (or ride) away is the BMX track and skate park with plenty of different style and size ramps and obstacles to test different abilities. There is also a bike repair station located at the BMX track.

The original playground still has a lot to offer, with an assortment of different obstacles to climb or swing and a slide that twists as you go down. There is also a spinning snake style carousel that entertained some of the older kids.

Both playgrounds offer swing sets, and you will also find a seesaw at the original playspace.

The lawn space is well kept, and there were games of cricket set up while we visited. There is undercover BBQ facilities, plenty of seating and toilet facilities. The namesake rose garden is well maintained and we will have to visit again when they are in bloom.

Things to Consider:

  • The swings and train are great for smaller toddlers, but they may need assistance to access the slides.
  • The park is a great place for a family lunch or birthday party so the carpark can get busy.
  • The playgrounds are unshaded, so bring hats & sunscreen.

Location:

Carparking is available off Aldinga Road, Willunga. There is also plenty of on-street parking if the carpark becomes full.
