There are so many small touches that make the Capri Theatre unique. One of the most notable is that it houses a 100-year-old Wurlitzer Organ which was installed by the Theatre Society of Australia. The Capri Theatre is also the only installation in the world to feature glass-fronted chambers in a theatre or cinema. That combined with its vintage charm and top movie offerings is reason enough to bring your kids for a visit.

History aside, the organ show is a joy to witness for young and old. The theatre organ plays for 15 minutes before advertised sessions on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings. Not only is it entertaining listening to the organ music, the show finishes in a surprising manner with the organ and its musician being lowered into the floor. This is a treat for children to see and a great way to engage the audience.

Movie viewers can sit upstairs or down and both areas are comfortable and spacious for young and old. The cinema is beautifully decorated retaining its art deco theme but in a well preserved manner. Framed photos of movie stars are dotted throughout the building and even the bathrooms are worth a visit. The upstairs ladies’ bathroom features a beautifully decorated powder room complete with a vintage mirror.

Last but not least you can’t forget about the all important candy bar. You can purchase all of your favourite movie snacks such as choc tops, popcorn and chips. This candy bar is a notch above the rest though as it is South Aussie strong and proudly supports a number of South Australian businesses including Haigh’s Chocolates, Fruchocs, Golden North and Bickford’s traditional sodas. Not only that, it is licensed and patrons can purchase wines from the nearby McLaren Vale and Clare Valley regions.

The Capri Theatre shows the latest movies as well as accessible screenings, fundraiser screenings and various film events through out the year. The Capri offers a range of discounted tickets and their great value Capri Club Membership option. It’s worth visiting The Capri Theatre website to find their current ticket deals.

No matter the occasion, the Capri Theatre is a fantastic family friendly attraction that never fails to disappoint. For a next level experience take advantage of the movie meal deals and pair your visit with a bite to eat at a nearby restaurant and if possible, pick a movie with an organ show- you wont be sorry!
