Adelaide Airport Sensory Room – A Quiet Space for Calm and Comfort.

The Sensory Room at Adelaide Airport is a calm, purpose-designed space offering a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle of the terminal. Created for passengers who may experience sensory overload or heightened stress, it provides a soothing, low-sensory environment where travellers can relax, regroup and take time away from crowds and noise.

The Sensory Room may be helpful for passengers who:

  • find noise, bright lights or crowds overwhelming
  • feel nervous or stressed about flying
  • need a quiet space to rest before travelling

The room has been designed to offer a soothing, stress-free environment, featuring:

  • adjustable soft lighting
  • comfortable seating and small nooks to sit or lie down
  • calming images displayed on screens
  • soft tactile items
  • a selection of fidget tools

Travellers are also welcome to take along their own comfort items such as headphones, fidgets or blankets.  Family members, friends, carers and support workers are welcome to enter the room with the passenger.

HOW TO USE THE SENSORY ROOM:

To make sure the space is never overcrowded, bookings are allocated in set time slots.  It is recommended to book before you travel. After your booking is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with instructions.  

The Sensory Room is located between the Virgin Australia Lounge and the Airport Pharmacy.  After passing through security, turn left and look for the door featuring sunflower artwork.  The room is available to book between select hours seven days a week, including public holidays.

The Sensory Room is free to use.
