Adelaide’s Best Iced Drinks & Flavoured Lattes | Family-Friendly Review

From teen-approved iced matchas to indulgent Biscoff lattes, Adelaide’s eateries are serving up a tempting range of iced and flavoured drinks you won’t want to miss — some available for a limited time only.

Review by Carla Caruso

Remember when the only iced drinks on the menu were iced coffee or iced chocolate, and the fanciest latte flavour you could get was hazelnut? How quaint!

These days, food spots are stepping up their menus with inventive options for everyone, from refreshing cool drinks to cosy hot brews. Whether you’re looking to beat the heat or treat the kids to something they’ll lurve, there’s no shortage of creative choices. We hit the streets to taste-test some of the best.

Salted Caramel Iced Latte – Abbots & Kinney, City

They had me at salted caramel. On a sunny afternoon, I ordered this bevvie from the bakery with almond milk and decaf, and it didn’t disappoint. The coffee was bold yet refreshing, though the syrup settled a little at the bottom.

Sweet and energising, it’s the perfect pick-me-up, with the eatery conveniently located near UniSA City West. Next time, I plan to try its iced sour cherry matcha, a unique twist on the strawberry matcha. Abbots & Kinney also has locations in Malvern and on Pirie Street.

Pumpkin Spice Latte – OTR, Unley

Just in time for Halloween, OTR (On the Run) has launched its  ‘Pumpkin Spice Season’, offering hot and iced pumpkin spice lattes through its in-house C Coffee brand. I went for the hot version, topped with a swirl of cream – it instantly took me back to sipping Viennese hot chocolates. Sweet, spicy, and perfect for the season, it really tasted like Halloween in a cup.

Cookies and Cream Bubble Tea – Chatime, OTR Unley

While at OTR, my 12-year-old son grabbed a drink from the Chatime outlet inside. Cookies and cream is his favourite combo, so he had to try it in bubble tea form. Creamy, thick, and loaded with crushed Oreos, he said it “kind of tastes like a cookies and cream chocolate bar but as a drink”.

He enjoyed it but would skip the jelly mix-ins next time. Chatime is also at other locations, including the city, North Adelaide, and Glenelg.

Pistachio Latte (Hot or Iced) – CIBO Espresso, North Adelaide

Mark Abdelmalik, the founder of Pistachio Papi, collaborates far and wide, and his latest is with CIBO Espresso. His addictive pistachio spread is now in lattes there (hot or iced), with matching croissants and cheesecake available for a limited time.

I tried the hot latte alongside a tuna salad sandwich, and it tasted exactly like the famous spread: decadently sweet and satisfying. CIBO has other locations in the city, Hyde Park, Torrensville, and beyond. (And while we’ve got your tastebuds tingling, check out our guide to pistachio-flavoured eats in Adelaide.)

Iced Strawberry Matcha – The Seller Door, Brighton

A fruity classic with a flavourful spin — The Seller Door adds a touch of cinnamon to its iced strawberry matcha. If you’re a fan of that warm spice, you’ll love it.

Other iced drinks there include chai, mocha, and taro (the latter still on my must-try list), along with hot options like salted caramel latte. The Seller Door is currently undergoing renovations (October 2025). During this time, the café is offering a smaller food menu and reduced hours while upgrades are completed.

Biscoff Latte – St Louis, Prospect

If Nutella is my first love, Biscoff has to be my second. On a summery evening at St Louis Prospect, I couldn’t resist rounding off the night with a hot Biscoff latte. It tasted like a super-sweet warm hug.

Other novelty hot drinks there include spiced chai and matcha lattes, while iced matchas come in strawberry, caramel, and Biscoff flavours. St Louis also has venues at Norwood, Semaphore, Tea Tree Plaza, Mawson Lakes, and beyond.

With so many quirky iced and flavoured drinks popping up around town (some fleeting, others delightfully luxe), there’s no better time to sip, savour, and explore Adelaide’s vibrant foodie scene. Treat yourself — and the family!
