AFL Showdown with Spectators | Black Lives Matter Protest not Permitted | COVID-19 update 9 June 2020

AFL Showdown to go ahead with spectators. Black Lives Protest not permitted

Premier Steven Marshall and SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens announced today that the AFL showdown this weekend will allow some spectators to attend.

This will be the first large event to allow an audience since restrictions came into place. A total of 2,000 people will be allowed to attend in the general stands plus another 240 people in private boxes.

Also the Police Commissioner will not be granting permission for a further Black Lives Matter protest to go ahead this weekend – last weekend’s event was conducted in a safe manner but it was a once-off permission that was granted.

The Transition Committee will be meeting further this week and an announcement regarding further lifting of restrictions is expected this Friday.
