Anne of Green Gables is coming to Netflix!
Netflix has just announced that it will be bringing a new adaptation of the beloved Anne of Green Gables to our screens in 2017. The 1908 novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, is about the adventures of 11 year old orphan, Anne Shirley, who goes to live with the Cuthberts, an elderly brother and sister, who have a farm on Prince Edward Island, Canada.
It is a much loved children’s novel – a true classic which has sold over 50 million copies. The new eight episode series entitled ‘Anne,’ will be written by Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad) and directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider). What a wonderful way to introduce this beautiful story to a whole new generation and it will be exciting for anyone who loves the classic novel.
Many of us will remember the wonderful 1985 mini-series starring Megan Follows as Anne and Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert. We can’t wait to see who will star in this new series!
“It’s been my experience that you can nearly always enjoy things if you make up your mind firmly that you will.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
