Architects of Air: Arborialis – Inflatable Maze

Lose yourself in an inflatable labyrinthine wonderland of colour and light at Rymill Park/Murlawirrapurka.

A global phenomenon for the past thirty years, the inflatable mazes of UK-based Architects of Air have transported audiences of all ages from around the world to alternate realms of the not-quite natural.

Through their series of Luminaria, Architects of Air create illuminated, inflatable structures that are somehow both expansive and cosy, providing spaces to explore and spaces to rest. As you choose your own way through each Luminarium, you’ll have a calming, sensory-driven experience guided by sound, light, and colour.

In an Australian premiere, the latest instalment in these innovative experience-makers’ series of installations is Arborialis – a labyrinthine wonderland that recalls the light-dappled canopies and awe-inspiring trunks of forests around the world. Featuring a soundtrack straight from the world’s most untouched ecosystems, Arborialis is the perfect place to wander, explore, and relax, losing yourself in the twists and turns of each branch of the Luminarium.

Play & Go Review

Step into another world at Architects of Air: Arborialis, the large inflatable maze which glows with colour and light. This is a fantastic installation for families to stop and explore at Illuminate Adelaide.

The luminarium has quite a relaxed feel to it so it’s easy to find yourself completely immersed in the space admiring the beautiful patterns on the roof and the vibrant colours. You can wander around at leisure, or find a cosy, quiet spot to sit and hang out with the kids.

Tips for visiting:

  • It’s a little dark so you’ll need to keep an eye on littlies and we recommend wearing thick socks to keep your feet warm because it’s a shoes-off experience.
  • You’ll be asked to leave your shoes and umbrella at the entrance – it’s an honesty policy but if you’re worried, just leave your Jimmy Choo shoes at home!
  • Don’t take anything sharp as it could puncture the inflatable arborialis
  • It’s quite cool inside in the evening, so rug up
You’ll find Aborialis conveniently located in Rymill Park at the Corner of Rundle Road and East Terrace, adjacent Base Camp.
