Autism-friendly Family Morning – National Science Week
During National Science Week, children with autism and their families can enjoy a quieter, less crowded visit to the Museum, as well as participating in science and craft activities.
Designed specifically for children with autism and their families, this is a unique morning experience. Before the South Australian Museum opens to the public, children with autism and their families have a chance to explore the museum. This is a chance to see all of the permanent galleries, Museum Discovery Centre, and maybe discover something you’ve never noticed before.
While everyone is always welcome at the Museum, the SA Museum acknowledges that sometimes the crowds and noise make visits harder for people on the autism spectrum. They will be altering some of the screens, lights and sounds around the Museum to make it more accessible for this special event, and there will be a sensory area.
The SA Museum have worked with Autism SA to provide autism awareness training for Museum staff.
Tickets are FREE and are only available for children on the autism spectrum and their families or carers.
BOOKINGS:
Book a ticket for each attendee, including family members and carers (there is no need to book a ticket for a child under 3).
The organisers will contact you closer to the date with more information, as well as some questions about access needs.
