AVCon is bringing the best of anime, gaming, cosplay, art and more to Adelaide Showground in July.

This locally produced, all-ages event is a must for fans of gaming, anime, tabletop, cosplay, and everything in between — whether you’re a seasoned con-goer or totally new to the scene, there’s something here for everyone. Kids under 12 are free, and there’s a dedicated kids area, a safe place for the youngest fans!

Level Up Your Weekend with Gaming Galore

AVCon’s got game tournaments for the competitive, freeplay console and PC gaming for the chill, and retro consoles for a trip down memory lane. You’ll also find indie Australian game developers showcasing their latest creations, VR experiences you can jump into, and classic arcade cabinets including rhythm games to test your skills.

Dive into Japanese Culture

Expect anime screenings, a manga library to browse, origami and colouring zones, and of course – cosplay. Whether you’re dressing up or just snapping pics, the cosplay energy is huge, with competitions and casual cosplay vibes throughout the weekend.

Tabletop Adventures Await

Prefer your games analog? AVCon’s tabletop area is packed with free play board games, pen and paper RPGs, TCG tournaments, and miniature wargaming. Learn to play a new card game, solve a puzzle, or join a one-shot DnD session – no prior experience needed.

Shop, Discover, and Connect

Exhibitors at AVCon include everything from collectible vendors and artists to community groups and creators. Artist Alley is a highlight, showcasing amazing local talent and one-of-a-kind pieces. Whether you’re browsing for art, merch, or just soaking up the creative atmosphere, there’s plenty to explore.

Live Entertainment and Creative Vibes

There’s more to AVCon than just games and merch. Enjoy live music, watch idol performances from local and interstate acts, catch dance sets from Kpop crews, or drop by the Maid Café inspired by Japanese-themed cafés. You’ll also find informative panels, fanfiction and AMV competitions, and workshops that let you get hands-on and creative.

For the Night Owls: AVCon After Dark

Once the sun sets on Saturday, things take a grown-up turn with AVCon After Dark – an R18+ program featuring mature panels, screenings, and adult-themed fun for the over-18 crowd. Make sure to grab your tickets separately if you’re keen for this exclusive evening session.
