Backpacks 4 SA Kids Christmas Program is about to hit full swing and they need your help.
This year Backpacks for SA Kids anticipate they will need gifts for around 5000 kids (that’s 10,000 gifts in total) so they are needing assistance more than ever.
Their goal is always to maintain their impact with those who need them the most and a simple present can bring so much joy and happiness, but can also reduce the stress and anxiety for those supporting the kids and families who are displaced at Christmas time.
Here is some feedback from a domestic violence survivor:
“A couple of days ago I started the day with a cry…I cried because my kids and I weren’t going to really celebrate Christmas….well, not really…we missed my family, and I was worried about presents for the kids.
I know we are safe, and we are going to have a better future because of our move and I am so grateful for that, but I hate the thought of my kids missing out again!
My case worker arrived with backpacks for the kids and asked them to go to the bedroom so we can have ‘adult talk’. She went back to the car and came back with 3 presents beautifully wrapped with ribbon and hand-made cards. I couldn’t believe my eyes; our Christmas was going to be so much more for my babies.
I wish I could have taken photos for you all to see their faces to know Father Christmas had found them. I had more tears, but this time they were happy tears!
Thank you so much for your incredible gifts, you will never know how much they meant for us. When we have taken a few more steps down this road, I will come and help your organisation help more people like us because it’s incredible what you do.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Gift Guidelines
Gifts are needed for newborns through to 18 year old’s and here are their guidelines to keep in mind when purchasing:
- $30 maximum per gift
- Must be brand new
- Newborn to 18 years
- No weapon or food oriented items
- No books or clothing (as the kids receive these items in their backpacks already)
- Gifts must not be wrapped

Gift donations will be accepted up until the Wednesday 29 November 2023 only to allow enough time to sort and distribute to all SA regions for delivery prior to Christmas day.
Drop Off Locations
All drop off locations are able to accept donations for their Christmas program from now until early November and your donations now not only help them to be better prepared when it comes to kicking off their Christmas program later in the year, but also hit the ground running with their gift wrapping. Drop off locations are listed on their website.
If you are time poor and would rather donate funds for them to use to purchase gifts to fill any shortfalls, you can do so via their website.
