Botanic Garden School Holiday Program
The Botanic Gardens of South Australia will run school holiday activities suitable for 5-12 year olds from 6th to 17th July 2015.
Activities are designed to promote fun, hands on learning about plants, people and the environment.
Nature Masks and Crowns (5–12yrs, 1 hr) $10
Using a combination of colourful materials and autumnal foliage to be found in the Botanic Gardens, you’ll be making a fantastic nature mask or crown to take home. Will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building. Bookings Essential.
Twigz (5–12yrs, 1 hr) $10
Come along to Adelaide Botanic Garden to make a spirit stick to bring you good luck or perhaps a magical mobile to hang inside or out. We’ll use twigs, leaves, stones and lots of colourful string to make the magic happen! Will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building. Bookings Essential.
Compost Critters (5–12yrs, 1 hr) $5
Explore compost and what lives in it, and find out how to make compost at home. Will be held on Kitchen Garden Lawn– if it is raining it will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building. Bookings Essential.
Salad Bucket (5–12yrs, 1 hr) $20
Plant up a bucket with tasty winter salad items to take home. Will be held on Kitchen Garden Lawn– if it is raining it will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building. Bookings Essential.
Making Fire, Making Glue (1 hr) FREE
Learn how Aboriginal people make fire using just what is around them in the Australian bush. Make your own glue from plants! Meet on the Schomburgk Pavilionif it is raining it will be held in the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building, Adelaide Botanic Garden – no bookings required.
Dreaming Story Telling (1 hr) FREE
Listen to Aboriginal Dreaming stories and understand what they can teach us about life. Learn how to identify tracks and traces in the environment. Meet at the Lecture Theatre of the Goodman Building, Adelaide Botanic Garden – no bookings required.
