Campbelltown Library & Nature Play Area | 171 Montacute Rd, Newton

A friend introduced me to Story Time at Campbelltown library today. On at 10am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (current as of June 2015).
For the littlies there is also Wriggle & Giggle Nursery Rhyme and Baby Games on Wednesdays at 10am and 2pm.
However today my 2.5 year old enjoyed Story Time where we sat and had books read to us (today’s theme was cats) plus we sang some songs with actions. There was a section where the kids could use musical instruments and then at the end there was craft time where we made a cat hat. I was really impressed with it so something you should consider for your older toddlers, especially as the weather keeps getting colder and wetter.
Outside the library there is a new nature play area which the kids loved.
It has two swings but the layout is like a maze with natural elements and Australian animal statues.
My son and another boy his age aswell as a 10mo girl had a ball running (crawling) around seeing the animals, climbing on them and the hills made of squishy asphalt and jumping off logs.
Definitely worth a visit for something different to your standard playground.
Any age will get something from this nature play space.
Tip: it is close to side streets and there is no fencing – with the maze like layout I would suggest if you have a runner you would benefit from an extra set of eyes.
See the Campbelltown Library website here for info. Many libraries all over Adelaide also host similar story time sessions for families. To find your local council see our list of council websites here.
